Vijay Varma reflects on immersive journey with Matka King

Mumbai, May 3: Actor Vijay Varma, known for his nuanced performances, is wrapping up his latest project, Matka King, calling the experience one of the most immersive of his career. The actor shared his deep connection with the story and character, saying he has never been so involved in a project before.

Taking to Instagram, Vijay posted a series of photos from the wrap-up celebrations with co-star Kritika Kamra and others, writing, "Matka King wrapped! Never been so immersed in a story/character for this long. It’s been a great journey… You’ll all get to witness it when it releases on @primevideoin… Big love to the entire crew.”

The actor also shared a heartfelt note for Nagraj Manjule, the acclaimed director of Sairat and Fandry, who helms Matka King. "Missed you on the last day @nagraj_manjule sir,” he wrote, honoring the director’s contribution to the project.

Set in the gritty backdrop of 1960s Mumbai, Matka King tells the story of a cotton trader who creates a gambling game called "Matka," revolutionizing a world once dominated by the elite. Vijay plays the lead, with Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in pivotal roles. The series is written by Abhay Koranne and Nagraj Manjule and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur Films.

Vijay was recently seen in the mystery thriller Murder Mubarak, directed by Homi Adajania, and in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, a mini-series about the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814, directed by Anubhav Sinha.
