New Delhi, May 1: Consumers across the country will now have to pay more for their daily dose of dairy as Amul, one of India's largest milk suppliers, has announced a hike of R s2 per litre on various milk variants. The price revision will come into effect starting May 1.
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets milk under the Amul brand, confirmed the increase on Wednesday, citing rising input costs and the need to support milk producers.

Under the revised pricing, Amul Full Cream Milk will now retail at Rs 67 per litre, up from Rs 65. Bulk-vended toned milk will also see an increase, rising to Rs 55 per litre from the earlier Rs 53.
The price hike spans across multiple popular Amul variants including:
• Amul Gold
• Amul Buffalo Milk
• Amul Slim and Trim
• Amul Cow Milk
• Amul Chai Mazza
• Amul Taaza
The move comes just days after Mother Dairy also announced a similar Rs2 per litre hike in liquid milk prices, pointing to a broader trend of inflationary pressure in the dairy sector.
The dairy cooperatives have justified the price increase by highlighting the growing costs of fodder, transportation, and packaging. Industry insiders suggest this adjustment is essential to ensure fair remuneration for farmers while maintaining product quality for consumers.
With both Amul and Mother Dairy adjusting prices, households across urban and semi-urban India are likely to feel the pinch, further tightening food budgets amid broader inflation concerns.
