Mumbai, Apr 30: Ahead of Maharashtra Day, popular television actor Sumeet Raghvan, best known for his portrayal of Rajesh Wagle in ‘Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey’, expressed deep admiration and emotional connection with the state of Maharashtra, calling it both his Janmabhoomi and Karmabhoomi.

Reflecting on the significance of May 1, which marks the formation of Maharashtra, Sumeet said, “Maharashtra isn’t just a state; it’s an identity, a legacy. Mumbai, the capital, is not only the economic powerhouse of India but also a cultural melting pot that has shaped who I am today.”

Though hailing from a South Indian background with a Tamil father and Kannada mother the actor emphasized how deeply Marathi culture has influenced his life. “My heart’s tongue is Marathi,” he said proudly. “I’ve performed in countless Marathi plays, I’m married to a Marathi mulgi, and my children studied in Marathi schools. I live and breathe this culture.”

He believes that anyone who lives in Maharashtra becomes a Maharashtrian at heart. “I work in both Marathi and Hindi industries and carry this blend of identities with immense pride. I am a proud Mumbaikar and even prouder to be associated with the richness of the Marathi language and legacy. Jai Hind. Jai Maharashtra.”

Sumeet’s on-screen role in ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’ echoes the values he cherishes — a deep connection with roots, middle-class resilience, and cultural pride. The show, which airs Monday to Saturday on Sony SAB, has struck a chord with audiences for its relatable storytelling.

As Maharashtra gears up to celebrate its formation day on May 1, Sumeet Raghvan’s tribute stands as a heartfelt reminder of the state’s inclusive spirit and cultural richness.
