Karkala, Apr 29: In a tragic incident, entrepreneur Dileep N R ended his life by shooting himself near the Nitte Dupadakatte state highway.

Dileep, who was running a business in Mangaluru, was the brother of former Karkala municipality president Pardeep N R.

He was also known for his close ties with several political leaders.

Giving details about the incident, Dr Arun K, superintendent of police, Udupi district, said, "Dileep was suffering from kidney-related health issues and had incurred financial losses. Last night, he texted his family about his intention to end his life. The family immediately informed the police. Upon tracing, Dileep was found inside a car owned by his friend in Doopadakatte, within the limits of Karkala rural police station. During the investigation, a poison bottle was found in the car, and Dileep was discovered dead, having shot himself with his licensed service revolver. He had shot himself in the chest."

On the evening of April 28, around 7 pm, Dileep informed his wife and friends that he was stepping out. However, he did not return. At approximately 1 am on April 29, he sent a WhatsApp voice message to some of his friends and relatives stating, “I am leaving you all behind. Please help my family.”
