Mangaluru, Mar 21: In a commendable act of responsibility, home guard platoon commander Mark Serra ensured the removal of spilled cement mix concrete from M G Road after tracking down the cement mixer truck responsible for the mess.

On Friday, March 21, a cement mixer truck traveling from Lalbagh to Hampankatta spilled a mixture of cement and gravel dust along the road. At Ballalbagh, a woman riding a two-wheeler skidded and fell due to the spilled mix. Witnessing the incident, Mark Serra immediately followed the truck on his two-wheeler, intercepted it at Hampankatta, and brought the driver back to the location of the spill.

Taking the initiative, Serra, along with a laborer, cleared the spilled concrete, preventing potential accidents for other two-wheeler riders. His quick thinking and action averted further mishaps and earned him appreciation. A traffic police constable also extended his support in the clean-up effort.

Although not on duty at the time, Mark Serra’s sense of service and social responsibility has been widely praised.
