Udupi: Animal lover, drummer youth dies of heart ailment

Udupi, May 25: Kartik Poojary (18), a resident of Subhash Nagara Sarakarigudde near Katapady, died on May 24 due to a heart ailment.

Kartik is survived by his father, Chandra Poojary, president of the Truck and Tempo Union, his mother, Shalini Chandra, a member of the Katapady gram panchayat, and a brother.

Kartik was a drummer for the Nasik Friends group of Subhash Nagara. He had completed his ITI education and secured employment in Chennai, where he was about to start work soon. He was an active member of the Sarakari Gudde Hindu Yuva Sene Parashurama unit.

Kartik was an ardent animal lover. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he used to feed boiled meat to street dogs when the hotels were closed. His friends also joined him in this noble deed by using vehicles to go around and feed the stray dogs.
