Mangaluru: Tree uprooted near Court Road damages two vehicles

Mangaluru, May 22: A large tree uprooted near Court Road, causing damage to two vehicles parked nearby, late night on Tuesday May 21.

Local authorities swiftly responded to the scene, with Mescom and Hoysala teams arriving to assess the situation. Their prompt action ensured the safety of passers-by and helped in clearing the road for smooth traffic flow.

Heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning have lashed parts of Dakshina Kannada district for the past two days. The rain, which began late Monday night, continued until Tuesday morning.

Subsequently, intermittent showers followed until noon, after which heavy rain resumed. Mangaluru, Beltangady, Dharmasthala, Guruvayanakere, Madanthyar, Kadaba, Bajpe, Manjeshwar, Ullal, Surathkal, Bantwal, Uppinangady, Sullia, Subrahmanya, and other parts of the district received good rainfall. Similarly, Udupi district also witnessed good rainfall.

The rainfall intensity has increased further, and yellow alert has been declared from May 22 to 25 in coastal Karnataka. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall during this period.

    You have to ask clarification and explanation with MCC and based on that you can consult your owner. Our explanation will not hold any good. Before rain begins, all the branches on the roadside trees should be trimmed. One one tree falls, make a provision to plant 3 more in its replacement.
