Bengaluru, Apr 8: Leader of Opposition R Ashoka has dubbed the Siddaramaiah-led Congress regime as “goonda raj” and claimed that the police department is dead.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Monday, he said the Congress leaders roaming around with guns proves the “goonda raj” in the State and pointed out that the law and order situation has completely collapsed in the State.

"All persons with licences to hold guns are required to surrender them one month before the elections, but the Congress leaders are pressuring the police in allowing them to carry the weapons. This is rowdysm by Congress and the government is proving that it is unable to maintain law and order situation,’’ he said.

The senior BJP leader said carrying of guns by Congress leaders was a security failure and anybody might move around with bombs. "The BJP will lodge a complaint with the Election Commission against the government," he said.

Ashoka said the Siddaramaiah regime has moved the Supreme Court over the release of funds for drought relief and warned that it would face the same fate as Kerala, which was pulled up by the apex court.
