Uttar Pradesh, Mar 24: In 2023, six students from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) were selected by Atlassian, an IT company based in Australia, offering a record pay package of Rs 83 lac per annum.

One of the six students selected was Tanya Singh. The others are Arpit Kumar, Shubham Kumar, Raghul Pandey, Apoorva Singh, and Adarsh Kashyap.

Tanya hails from Bijnor in the state of Uttar Pradesh and has been studious since childhood. She achieved 98.2% in her intermediate studies from Blue Birds International School.

Completing her BTech in computer science from NIT Jamshedpur in 2023 with a grade of 9.07/10, Tanya has been working with Atlassian's Bengaluru office as a software engineer since then.

In 2022, a Rs 83 lac package was offered to a student of NIT. However, in 2023, the same offer was extended to six students. Among them, Tanya Singh, Adarsh Kashyap, and Arpit Kumar studied computer science, while Apoorva Singh, Rahul Pandey, and Shubham Kumar pursued BTech in Electrical Engineering.

83 Lac Indian Rupees in Australian Dollars is not much money in Australia. After tax and living expenses will not be able to save much. Things are expensive overseas and you can't use Indian bargaining skills and pay less to anyone.

83 LPA is not a big salary by Australian standards. And wonder how much variable component and stock option portion exist in this salary. Many IT guys including me earn 30 to 40 LPA in Indian Town Bangalore itself...but still majority us are not happy with that salary because 30% tax it goes. High rent for houses. Lack of job security in IT. Too much mental pressure.

Rs.83 lakhs pay in Australia is not a big deal for reputed college graduates. Besides,. India and Australia have different levels of purchasing power parity due to various factors such as economic development, income levels, cost of living, and currency exchange rates. Generally, Australia has a higher PPP than India, meaning that goods and services are more expensive in Australia compared to India when measured in a common currency. Australia, as a developed country with a high standard of living, generally has higher wages, better infrastructure, and higher prices for goods and services compared to India. On the other hand, India, as a developing country with a large population, generally has lower wages, lower prices, and a lower cost of living compared to Australia.. When you earn in dollars, you have to spend in dollars.

So what? There are tribal children from the most remote places of backward states who get into the IITs, NITs etc and carve a niche for themselves; if you see their achievements under their given circumstances this is just nothing! Moreover; even though she is working in India, there would definitely be a clause in her employment agreement that she can be transferred at very short notice without reason assigned..... etc etc.
