Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (MS)

Beltangady, Mar 23: Fuel worth lacs of rupees was stolen by drilling a hole into the petroleum-supplying mainline at Puduvettu. A case regarding this incident has been filed at the Dharmasthala police station following a complaint lodged by the company.

Rajan, the station in charge of Neriya at Petronet MHB Limited, filed a complaint with the police, stating that petroleum products are supplied through the Mangaluru-Hassan-Bengaluru Petronet pipeline. Miscreants drilled a hole into the mainline at Aladka of Puduvettu village and installed a 2.5-inch diameter HDPE pipe, stealing over 12,000 litres of fuel worth Rs 9.6 lac between March 16 and 19.

The pipeline, buried three feet below the earth, was dug up by the thieves to access and steal the fuel. Dharmasthala police are conducting further investigations.

It must be a specialist who knows where are Pipelines hidden .Why didnt they keep a hidden camera to see who is on work and then arrest the culprit? They should have put the pipelines not only under three feet under the earth but secure it with extra outside protection. So that one cant so fast get into pipelines.Even below 5 meter was still better.

Horrible state of affairs going around in this area; drilling holes in a live diesel pipeline is next to impossible impossible without the tacit connivance of top people.... worst than any third world country...
