Bengaluru, Mar 21: Despite the public bravado of winning 400 plus seats in the Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is afraid of BJP losing and has deliberately ensured that the Congress party’s funds were frozen by the Income Tax Department, accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday.

In a detailed statement on the freezing of the Congress party’s funds, Siddaramaiah alleged that Modi wants to ‘’cripple’’ the Congress party in the elections by freezing its funds.

Siddaramaiah strongly defended Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement that ‘’Prime Minister Narendra Modi is merely a façade’’ and ‘’there is an evil force (Dushta Shakti) behind the government’’ and alleged that this ‘’evil force’’ has sought to dismantle the executive, legislature and judiciary.

"It is only the election that can prevent this evil force,’’ the chief minister said.

Siddaramaiah attacked the Modi regime’s ‘’misuse of official machinery’’ to suppress the opposition parties and for behaving in an ‘’autocratic manner.’’

The chief minister has urged the Election Commission to direct the Centre to immediately withdraw its illegal order of freezing the Congress party’s funds on the eve of the crucial Lok Sabha polls.

‘’The Congress party’s funds are contributions from the common people and ordinary citizens and not collected from industrialists. The BJP wants to cripple the Congress party by freezing its accounts and this misuse of the ruling party at the Centre must be rescinded immediately,’’ he said.

‘’The silence of the Election Commission on the blatant misuse of official machinery by BJP is detrimental to democracy,’’ he said alleging that the ruling BJP at the Centre has collected thousands of crores of rupees from industrialists through the Electoral Bonds. This injustice and illegal action must be withdrawn forthwith, he said.

Siddaramaiah alleged that Modi and BJP are afraid of losing despite their public bravado of winning 400 plus seats, which is the reason behind the freezing of Congress party’s funds.

A panicky Siddha's condition is akin to a frightened traveller singing aloud to overcome his fear while crossing a dense forest. Siddha's remark on Modi is pitiable.
