Mangaluru: Prior nod to hold poll meetings, rallies, campaigns must – DC Mullai Mugilan

Mangaluru, March 18: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mugilan M P has stated that political parties should obtain prior permission to hold meetings, campaigns and gatherings pertaining to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He was speaking after presiding over a meeting of the representatives of political parties at the DC's office on Monday, March 18, after the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 was announced on Saturday by the Election Commission of India.

“The political parties should submit applications to hold election meetings, rallies, publicity campaigns and use of vehicles at the single window system opened at the office of the election officer. The Election Commission has also introduced ‘Suvidha App’ to submit applications online. Permission can also be taken using the app. Details of the star campaigners and venues should be informed in advance,” he said.

“The model code of conduct will apply to all the candidates and the rules should be strictly followed as it will facilitate transparent, free and fair elections. All the parties should cooperate in this connection,” he said.

Zilla panchayat CEO Dr Anand, additional DC Dr Santhosh Kumar and representatives of various political parties were present.
