Kadaba: Elderly couple residing in thatched house seeks euthanasia amid eviction notice

Daijiworld Media Network – Kadaba (MS)

Kadaba, Feb 19: An elderly couple residing in a thatched house in Kaukrady taluk has made a desperate plea for euthanasia to the President of India, as they face eviction from their home situated on government land. Radhamma and Muthuswamy, originally from Chitradurga, have been living on the disputed land in Kapinabailu for the past six years, having arrived in search of daily wage labour.

Their plight began when they entrusted their hard-earned savings of Rs 50,000 to a local individual, who purportedly provided them with the land. Despite their efforts to secure a title deed for the property, their application was rejected by revenue officials two years ago, leaving them vulnerable to legal challenges.

Amidst this turmoil, Ashok Acharya from Beltangady taluk initiated legal action to compel the elderly couple to vacate the land. Consequently, revenue officials, acting upon court orders, served eviction notices to Radhamma and Muthuswamy, despite the couple's possession of documents such as Aadhar card, ration card, and voter ID.

Adding to their distress, the notice was addressed to their married daughter, who no longer resides with them. Furthermore, the couple laments the lack of basic amenities, such as drinking water and electricity, provided by the local panchayat.

In a desperate bid to evade eviction and homelessness, the elderly couple has implored the authorities to permit them to continue residing on the land or grant them euthanasia.

Tahsildar Prabhakara Khajoore of Kadaba acknowledged the service of the notice to the couple, assuring that appropriate measures would be taken to address their concerns.

Right move by the seniors... Heartless societies will never care unless the hapless fight back... Some of us grow up torturing the available insects n domestic pets... Same mentality will get emboldened as they grow up... Wicked and without blood in their eyes... Only way to counter those wicked with ulterior animosity to make your voices heard loud n clear... I am sure some kind people will still be around among govt officials who will provide them continued shelter with public amenities...
