Udupi, Feb 18: A potential tragedy was averted at Kodi Bengre Delta beach as personnel from Sea Bird and Delta boats swiftly rescued two tourists who were at risk of drowning on Saturday.

Five individuals, including two boys and three girls from Bengaluru, visited Kodi Bengre beach in the afternoon. As two youths ventured into the water and moved farther into the sea, they found themselves in the grip of sudden high waves.

Panic ensued among the girls on the shore, prompting a quick response from Vivek Puthran, Ramesh Bangera, and Krishna – personnel of a water sports boat conveniently stationed nearby. Their timely intervention ensured the safe rescue of the endangered youths, preventing a potential tragedy.

Outside people do not know about the danger area just few steps back on the beach where there is no sand and any one can washed away from river to sea with the water flow. Same thing happen to my younger brother on 27 January who was Manager in Canara bank posted in Bengaluru native of Delhi with having spouse and 2 kids lived in a joint family. He was not aware of that danger area and washed away in sea. Found him after 2 days about 30 km far in Sea. Unfortunately there was a festival on 27 and 28, so every local people and fisherman were on leave and celebrating in nearby temple. So there was no one at the time when he was drowning. His 2 friends were also helpless as no one know swimming. So, People should listen to locals rather than fighting with them if they ask people not to go in water at that place.
