Bengaluru, Jan 31: After inviting the wrath of BJP-JDS over Mandya district administration’s decision of removing the saffron flag of Hanuman, BJP opposition leader R Ashoka has ridiculed the "sudden love" of ruling Congress party for the national tricolor.

In a post on social media platform X, Ashoka said the then Congress government had prevented BJP leaders from carrying out the Ekta Yatra for hoisting the national flag at the Lal Chowk of Srinagar on the 2011 Republic Day and had prevented State BJP leaders from hoisting the national flag at the Idgah Maidan in Hubballi. The same Congress party had prevented hoisting of national flag at the Chamaramarjpet grounds in Bengaluru, which was allowed when he was Revenue Minister in the BJP government after 75 years.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is allergic to saffron colour or the flag and has exhibited his ‘’hatred of Hanuman flag’’ on the pretext of the national flag. “Has he forgotten that the national flag also has orange colour?’’ he said pointed out that saffron is sacred to Hindus and is a symbol of sacrifice.

“The Hindus will remove you (chief minister) from power just as the saffron flag of removed at Keragodu in Mandya district,” the BJP leader has warned.

Samuel Johnson's statement is apt. Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel. Never trust politicians who wear patriotism on their sleeves.

BJP just wanted to whip up the communal passions, as the elections are nearing and they have nothing worthwhile to talk to the electorate. Karnataka electorate has once shown them the doors, hope they will not fall prey to the cheap tactics of the Bhrasht Jumla Party this time. When BJP is fighting elections on the basis of Ram, Hanuman, Savarkar and by denigrating Tippu etc. in Karnataka, the Kerala MP smartly got the Yeshwantpur Express extended to Calicut, reducing further the availability of seat for Mangaloreans. So our MP is going to talk about these things during the campaign, whereas Nalinanna will speak about Hijab, Ram, Hanuman, Saffron, Tippu and all those stuff which is not going to make any difference for the common people. But then we have Andh Bhakths in Mangalore, who will vote him back to power. Whom to blame ? BJP or Andh Bhakths ?

The sagh affiliated party didn't ask them why national flag wasn't unfurled in Nagpur. Why only election gimmick is created by BJP as far as patriotism is a shoulder badge. What Eshwarappa boasted about unfurling Bagwa dhwaja on Red fort is love for national flag or deceit by communal rhetoric?

Why was your love to hoist tricolour in Kashmir in 2011. There was state ruling NF govt and the governor to raise the flag on republic day to do the constitutional duty. Your party wasn’t ruling Kashmir in 2011 but you wanted only to create law and order in Kashmir hence the centre prevented you from entering Kashmir. Don’t search desperately stones in milk to fabricate false claims and to cause law and order situation.
