Mangaluru: NHAI finally clears remnants of Surathkal toll gate

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 30: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has successfully removed the remaining structures of the Surathkal toll gate, eliminating obstacles such as booth beds, lane dividers, and humps from the road.

Although the toll booth shelter was removed a month ago, the lane dividers and booth bed remained, resulting in six accidents at the site within the past month. The absence of street lights further exacerbated the situation, contributing to accidents.

Presently, only two large billboards indicating the former toll collection center remain. While these do not impede traffic flow, they serve as a reminder of the toll gate's historical presence. The public is urging the administration to install street lights, particularly as hundreds of students from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) cross the road at this location. The high-speed stretch poses a significant risk of accidents, emphasizing the need for enhanced safety measures.

In Mangalore no development nothing new happening, no new companies no new roads. only NH is developed from 2 lane to 4 lane. where as in Kerala its 6 lanes and looks beautiful. Mangalore is ignored by State government and Local MP and MLA. Nalin Kumar report card for the last 15 years is out of 10 only 1. He has failed miserably.

Next is the speed breakers at padua that needs to be removed. As amazing as it sounds NHAI recently released a statement saying that speed breakers on NHs are illegal because those obstruct free movement of traffic. They also mentioned that speed breakers near toll are also illegal.

Many public collection programs do not share the accounts with the main stakeholder that is public itself... Tolls are officially and unofficially collected for years and years together... Several faceless stakeholders swindle loads n loads of collections and talk big in public... Whenever they speak in public in joker ways we laugh it out and brush them aside... But do we really know what they are actually looting?... One toll gate is closed but there are several of them that are going on from years much beyond the full collection of costs and more... Best state that way is the state of Goa where world-class bridges and expressways are absolutely free to travel....
