Byndoor, Jan 29: MP B Y Raghavendra appealed to union railway minister to add additional compartment to Bengaluru-Karwar express train 16595/16596.

Raghavendra also expressed gratitude to union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav for extending train services to Karwar from Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Byndoor routes. He also thanked the union minister for extending SMVT train services from Mangaluru to Murudeshwar.

Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole appealed to increase the capacity of Panchaganga Express to maximum level. This is the demand of people of coastal Karnataka region also. At present, though all trains are running with 22 LHB coaches, Panchaganga express is carrying only 14 LHB coaches. This is the only train that reaches Bengaluru from coastal Karnataka within a short time. So it is very important to increase the number of bogies of this train. Shiradi Ghat is in bad condition and other ghat roads are also damaged. So there is no alternative for the people of coastal region to reach capital city of Bengaluru. Many people depend on Bengaluru for their livelihood.

Panchaganga train connects many pilgrimage centres like Subramanya, Kateel, Dharmasthala, Udupi, Kollur, Murudeshwar and Gokarna. In addition, it connects many educational institutions at Manipal, Moodbidri, Mangaluru and other parts. There is opportunity to increase the number of bogies on Panchaganga train without disturbing its schedule.

Keeping in mind all the points MP Raghavendra has requested union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav to increase the number of bogies on Panchaganga express.
