Pakistani Senators Seek Debate on Corruption


Islamabad, Jul 16 (IANS): Senators of the Jamaat-e-Islami want a parliamentary debate on rampant corruption in Pakistan.

Senators Khursheed Ahmad, Mohammad Ibrahim Khan and Aafia Zia, moving an adjournment motion, sought that a debate should take place on a Transparency International report.

The report had said that corruption in the country had reached Rs.30 trillion during the past three years, reported the daily Dawn.

The senators noted that losses caused by corruption allegedly in Pakistan Steel Mills, National Insurance Company Limited and rental power plants were not included in the Rs.30 trillion estimate.
