All are equal before law: Bommai on Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from Parliament

Bengaluru, Mar 25 (IANS): A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from Parliament, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai on Saturday said all are equal before law.

Bommai said: "Law is common for everyone. There is no separate law for Rahul Gandhi. A legal system exists in the country and everything goes as per law."

"The Congress leader had a feeling that he can talk about anything, and he had the opportunity to correct himself but he failed to do so," Bommai added.

The Chief Minister said Rahul not only spoke against an individual but also a community and this has hurt the people. A case was filed in the court which gave its verdict.

On party's probable candidates for the Karnataka polls, the Chief Minister said: "Wait and watch for list of candidates.

"A mammoth convention is taking place in Davangere in which around 10 lakh people are expected to participate.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will blow the trumpet of the BJP's victory. The Vijay yatra will begin from Davangere. People will be requested to vote for the BJP based on the work done by the double-engine government. There is no doubt about the BJP forming the government. The Prime Minister will be invited to participate in the Vijayotsava to be held in May," he claimed.

The people of Karnataka have a golden opportunity to vote fearlessly, for good candidates and not be intimidated by promised made by parties only for elections. Vote judiciously, vote for good candidates. Forget your allegiance to parties. Candidates who care for India's development without bias - must be voted to power.

Yes Mr. Bommai. We know we have different laws for BJP and different laws for others. Why corrupt Virupaksha Madal not arrested though it was clear case of corruption? Why no punishment for foul mouth Eshwarappa, CT Ravi, Pratap Simha, Tejaswi Surya etc???? Are they above law?????

Many of the Politicians throw mud on each other specially on the eve of coming election. They talk all sorts of nonsense and create nuisance to public when such matters are published in News Papers. Why they are not given the same treatment as per law. Rarely one is punished and many others are got scot free. There should be some sort of uniformity while implimenting law. Why such disparities?

This is only diversion tactics by the ruling party BJP. The government got lots to answer to the country but only diverting the minds of the people. But what is a fact said by Raga is a fact. He didn't not say any lies like the ruling party.

The judgement which was given was in a hurry. And against the usual norms. There is no doubt that his conviction will be thrown out at the High court or Supreme Court. Is is going to say the same thing that the law is equal to everyone at that time ?
