Mangaluru, Mar 23: "Yenepoya Institute will inspire other universities in the country to start centres for civil services examination," said MLA U T Khader. He was speaking after inaugurating the centre for Civil Services examination of Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science and Commerce.

"Students of Karnataka are going outside the state to prepare for civil services examinations. Mangaluru needed a centre like this. Good politicians need to begin their training in colleges. Though politicians fight in the political sessions, they unite while coming out. But IAS and IPS officers sometimes remain revengeful after quarrels. Therefore, training in human values is necessary along with civil services," he said.

Minority welfare department district officer Jinendra Kotian said that Yenepoya has shown a new path. "Students can develop the capacity to face IPS and IAS examinations with the training. The department provides scholarships and trains students in Delhi and Hyderabad. As many as 4,000 students are benefiting from the grants of Rs 6 crores under Vidyasiri project. The department is providing details through Facebook," he said.

Professor P L Dharma of Mangalore University, speaking as the chief orator, said that the efforts of Yenepoya Institute are amazing when it comes to teachings of human values which are seeing a systematic suppression in Mangaluru. "Everybody should have a house as per the aspirations of the Constitution. Those aspirations should be fulfilled if nationalism should be preserved. The institute has achieved a milestone by starting civil services examination when degree courses are being neglected."

Yenepoya Deemed to be University chancellor Dr Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi said that the university has provided an opportunity to serve the nation through the courses. "Students can now obtain training here instead of going to Hyderabad and Delhi," he said.

Pro vice-chancellor Dr B H Sripathi Rao, registrar Dr Gangadhar Somayaji, registrar of examinations Dr B T Nandish were present.

Principal Dr Arun A Bhagawath welcomed. Dr Sakeena Nasser rendered the vote of thanks. Mohammed Ali Roomi gave details of new training.
