Mangaluru: Man fleeced of Rs 15.34 lac in money doubling scam

Mangaluru, Mar 14: A case is filed in CEN police station of the city of an online fraud in which a man was fleeced Rs 15.34 lac on the pretext of doubling the money.

The victim person received message on WhatsApp from 9710449035 mobile number of a stranger on March 4. The message was about a part time job. The message was linked to Google. There was rating of the job also displayed.

The stranger asked the victim to download the telegram app. The victim did the same. He was asked to complete three tasks in order to double the money.

The stranger asked the victim to put Rs 150 in the beginning and then Rs 200. The victim put the money and got Rs 2800 in return. The victim believed the stranger and proceeded as per the message of the stranger and clicked the link and opened an account with password.

Stranger asked the victim to send Rs 2,800 and the complainant victim sent the same. Later he was asked to send Rs 9,000. Again the amount was increased to Rs 25,000 and the victim did not suspect and transferred Rs 15.34 lac in phases from March 4 to 8. But the victim did not receive any doubled amount and came to know that he is taken for a ride by the online fraudster.
