Mangaluru, Mar 14: A huge tree branch fell on the road and a scooter got damaged on Monday March 13 on Pumpwell-Kankanady old road.

The road was full of traffic at around 5 pm when a huge branch of a mango tree was bowing down and about to fall. Vehicles were still plying under the dangerously bent branch of the tree. The branch fell as the top part of a truck struck against it. Though the truck moved ahead, the branch fell on an electricity supply pole, which got uprooted and fell on a scooter. The scooter rider escaped by whisker but the vehicle got damaged.

As the electricity pole and tree branch fell on the road, traffic got disrupted. The electricity cable got stuck to the tyre of one more scooter that came through the same way. Luckily, the rider of that scooter also did not get hurt.

Pandeshwar fire service personnel arrived on the spot and cleared the tree. But there was a delay in clearing the electricity pole that was by the side of the branch that had fallen. Hence, the traffic movement was stopped on the road. Locals said that the branch was bowing down as it was full of mangoes on it.
