Udupi: Rs 10 fee to use urinals at Malpe beach, photo of receipt goes viral on social media

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Mar 10: Tourists are made to shell out Rs 10 to use urinals at Malpe beach. A photo of the receipt of the fee is making waves on social media.

A citizen, who used the public toilet at the beach has shared this on social media. Now the same is getting trolled.

The matter was discussed on Friday, in the general body meeting of the city municipality. The issue was brought to the notice of the administration by opposition leader Ramesh Kanchan.

Answering Ramesh’s query, Raghupati Bhat MLA said, “We have already asked clarification with Mantra tourism development company and according to them, they are not charging any fee for passing urine. Rs 10 fee is charged only for using the bathrooms.”

First of all let the MLA and his administration make corrections in the language before issuing bill to foreign tourists. The bill mentions as gents urine Rs. 10/-. Are they selling urine? Instead it should be “usage of urinal” and the word price should be replaced by "charges." Secondly Rs. 10/- is exorbitant for using urinal or toilet. It should not be more than Rs.5, when it is Rs.2 or 3 in other public toilets. Otherwise our locals will find other alternative.

The bill clearly mentions as gents urine. MLA says only for bathroom use. So is bathroom meant for urinating ? Perhaps ₹10/- is cost of one bottle of gent’s urine. You are paid and is directly credited to the adhar linked bank account 😂

We never want to pay, we r entitled and expect others to do our dirty job. Have u seen the condition of toilets on group tours abroad or BIAL or passengers throwing packets out of train & bus windows.

As per the minister, if you pass the urine in public, you no need to pay anything, if you use bathroom to save environment, then you should pay 10 rupees.
