Very sad. There are many creative ways to climb the coconut tree with using machines and tubes. But people are not thinking creative.

We are losing lot of lives climbing coconut trees...great loss. Like for fishermen i hope there is a special and compulsory insurance with very minimal premium by government is implemented. For coconut farm owners now more loss than profit. We spend more money on clearing grass and on manure. Food for thought.

Every year perhaps as many as five people die in the two coastal districts due to a fall from a palm tree. Quite a few survive the fall, but sustain serious injuries. I knew a 17 year old who fell off a coconut tree but luckily for him the fall was in a muddy field. He suffered no serious injuries. Hopefully someone develops a safety harness to the climber, to help break the fall immediately.
