Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Jan 27: A tempo driver ran his tempo over two bikes in an inebriated state and also created ruckus in a public place on the night of Thursday at Beedinagudde.

Dinesh, a resident of Diana Kukkikatte, is the driver of the tempo who created ruckus. He drove his tempo dangerously close to a bike near Diana Circle. The bike rider who got enraged questioned the tempo driver. Dinesha abused the bike rider in reaction. The bike rider got furious and slapped Dinesh.

Dinesh got terribly angry as he was slapped by the bike rider. Dinesh pushed the bike on the road and drove his tempo over it. Both the bike rider and pillion jumped to a side and saved themselves. Accused Dinesh did not stop at this and reversed the tempo again.

One more bike which was parked there came under the tempo. Five to six people including a woman, who were standing by that road ran for their lives.

City police arrived at the spot and took the driver into custody.

Anger never solves any problem but aggravates it... First of all the guy should not even have taken a bicycle after a drink... And he takes the goods tempo... Punishment for such offences must be heavy fine which is almost ill affordable... Stay in lock up or jail for a few weeks will not deter future adventurers... Severe fines in excess of 25,000 must be imposed without trial for proven cases...

dont drag religion to everything. drinking is an individual problem. are you saying people belonging to other religions don't drink? I have seen people getting sloshed in parties and creating ruckus, so let's keep religion aside.

Drinking and drive is the motto in Udupi and manipal areas. There is not a single case of drunken driving as the police are not bothered to get involved in such cases. In my area 90 percent accident takes place due to drinking there is no liquor test policy in our places Enjoy the drink and drive rashly.

Sudesh pai, Manipal, I fully agree with your comments and it makes sense in every respect. This alcohol test should be made compulsory as they have in most countries. This will reduce drunk drivers on the road.
