Beltangady: Man gets 20 years in jail for repeatedly raping minor, fined Rs 50,000

Beltangady, Jan 25: The additional and sessions court here sentenced Bobby, to 20 years imprisonment, for repeatedly raping a minor girl.

The accused sentenced to jail is Bobby (48), a resident of Beltangady. He also fined Rs 50,000.

Justice Radhakrishna convicted Bobby of repeatedly raping a minor girl between 8 pm on December 19, 2021 and 8.30 pm on February 26, 2022 in Beltangady. Failure to pay the fine will attract another six months imprisonment. The victim had lodged a police complaint at Beltangady police station on March 3, 2022. The station sub inspector Nandakumar had registered a case under POCSO Act.

Beltangady circle inspector Shivakumar B had arrested Bobby, collected evidence, conducted the probe and submitted the charge sheet to the court under the directions from district SP Rishikesh Sonawane, additional SP Dharmappa and Bantwal DSP Pratap Singh Thorat. Head constable Vijayakumar Rai assisted in the probe. Public prosecutor Venkatramana Swamy argued the case in the court.
