Mangaluru: Poster of Mandd Sobhann's maiden Konkani movie 'Osmitay' released

Mangaluru, Dec 11: The poster of Konkani movie 'Osmitay' was released on Sunday, December 11.

Konkani's premier cultural organisation, Mandd Sobhann, is now making its debut in the film industry and had organised a poster release event for its film.

Tulu film director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail and Konkani actor-producer Prince Jacob launched the film's poster in a unique way by pasting the it on the wall.

Speaking on the occasion, movie director Vijaykumar Kodiyalbail said, "The movie Kantara has gained global fame because it is about our culture and about this land."















































He also added that the Christian community played a major role in supporting, contributing and promoting Tulu dramas.

"Initially, Christian institutions provided us to play our dramas in different districts. Irrespective of religion, people have supported the art. People should also support Konkani drama and movies. In future, I have a dream to direct a Konkani movie," he said.

Eric Ozario, speaking about the film, said that this movie, which is a search for Konkani identity and has an inside view about the migration of Konkani people, will be relatable to people of all walks of life. The lead actor – Ashwin D'Costa and the lead actress – Sonal Agnes Monteiro, who were selected through auditions, were introduced, which was followed by the introduction of the main technical crew of the film.

The story of Asmithaai is written by Eric Ozario while its screenplay and dialogues are penned by by Joel Pereira. Nellu Permannur, Nikilesh, and Joel Pereira have worked as associate directors.  Balaraj Gowda is the cinematographer and editing is by Mavin Joel Pinto. Denis Monteiro has designed the costumes. Music is by Eric Ozario, Alwyn Fernandes, Joel Pereira while background score is by Prem Bharath.

The poster launch was followed by the introduction of the cast and a singing performance by renowned artiste Lulu Fortes from Goa. Lulu Fortes mesmerized the audience with her performance of Goan songs. The music team led by Roshan Bela, comprising of Sanjith Rodrigues, Stalin D'Souza, Russel Rodrigues and Prajwal Fronteiro backed her singing. Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the programme. 

Businessmen and community leaders Dr Ronald Colaco, Rohan Monteiro, Michael D’Souza, Roy Castelino, Ronald Pinto, Vincent Cutinha, and Gerald D’Mello have also contributed to the film.

Mandd Sobhann's president Louis Pinto, Stanly Alvares and other dignitaries were present.
