Auto rickshaw fare revised in Dakshina Kannada, minimum charge Rs 35

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Nov 4: The district Regional Transport Authority has revised the auto rickshaw fare in Dakshina Kannada and it will be implemented from November 15.

A minimum of Rs 35 will be charged for 1.5 kilometres (maximum three passengers). Further, Rs 17 will be charged for each extra kilometre. For waiting, 15 minutes is free. After 15 minutes, Rs five will be charged for the next 15 minutes. Twenty kilogram luggage will not be charged. For another 20 kilogram luggage, one should pay Rs five. Passengers should 1.5 times the above fare from night 10 pm to 5 am.

It has been decided to implement colour code for the autos. Under zone 1 (Mangaluru city), all autos and e-autos should paint their autos with black and yellow paint. Moreover, ‘Zone 1’ sticker given from the police department should be pasted visibly from all four sides of the vehicle. Under zone 2 (Mangaluru rural), autos have been already painted with black and yellow colour. Now, the autos should stick ‘Zone 2’ stickers from all four sides of the vehicle, stated a notification issued by the deputy commissioner.

At least the RTA should have made it 2 Km for Rs.35. It's better to enjoy walking for those who have to travel 1.5 km.

Increase of minimum Auto fare to Rs35 is not justified. In Mumbai it was revised recently from Rs21 to 23 effective 1st Oct.

Until Coastal public is not going to raise their voice they are continue Looting public mainly middle class people. Since all auto union leaders also Politicians/ Backed by Political party they are capable of changing rules as per their interest. Mangalore Min-rate 1.5Km=Rs 35 & subsequently per Km is Rs 17, In Udupi MLA Bhat (Auto union president) gone one step ahead and increased Min-rate 1.5Km=Rs 40 & subsequently per Km is Rs 20,

Use Auto's only when 3 people or family with kids travelling. Else, use public transport. That is the best way to fight back. Why bike taxis are not allowed by RTO ? 40% flourishing in Karnataka & budda is silent. Only public suffering. Don't vote for Topiwala next time.

When politicians want our vote they make empty promises of bringing prices down or controlling sky rocketing prices, but once they are elected they do little or nothing for the common man. For the past decade the price rise of essentials items have been so huge, that just when the common man was beginning to come out of poverty and have some better days, they are now being pushed below the poverty line all over again.

Passengers pay 1.5 times the quoted fare from 10 pm to 5 am. It is just a joke. Even till 7.am, they ask for 1.5 times a charge. Pre-paid auto stands should be planned in the most feasible places and implement UPI mode of payment too. Many auto drivers don't return the change.

From 10 pm to 6 am, the common man is at the auto rajas mercy; one has to pay whatever they quote especially if you are accompanied by your family!

Every year hike? also all comodities prices are gone up ? Tax billionaires, multi millionaires as they are behind inflation, probably tax evasion also, they may be using some foundation funds to evade taxes and globalist elite behind this covid virus, wars, economy crissis to reduced population. Due to this, economy and small and medium scale industry losses also. Unfortunately these billionaires control government and most opposition so common man and normal rich need to bear the brunt of their created inflation.

In rural areas where there is no meter system neither any authority to control these autos, people have to shell out whatever the driver demands; autos are minting money at the cost of senior and sick citizens who cannot manage to travel in the dinghy outdated and overcrowded private buses! This sort of pampering of auto drivers most of who act like goons in a small city like Mangalore is another big burden on the common man! Also, to be noted that majority of autos run on gas or electricty! This decision is an indirect way of pleasing the auto cartel before the elections!!

Mangaluru is the only city in India where Minimum Charges are Rs. 35/- that too for 1.5 kilometers. Even, the commercial capital of the country is cheaper. Moreover sharing option is available. District Regional Transport Authority should explain the public logic behind this hike. When fuel prices are on the decline, and roads getting smarter what is the need to increase? Even bus fares hiked during covid were not rolled back. Aam Admi Maro ....

A man went to a psychiatrist because he did not get sleep. Psychiatrist told him to go to a circus, that came recently in the town, where a joker kept all people amused and laughing. After seeing that, he said the man would get sound sleep. Hearing that, the man laughed so loudly that the psychiatrist asked him why he was laughing. The man said, he himself was that joker in that circus. Friends, today, we are like that joker, with full of anxiety and fear about our and our children's future, how we will be able to live with the rising prices, unemployment and other increasing liabilities with the purchasing power of rupee going down. Charlie Chaplin said "I like to walk in the rain,so no one can see me crying".

Many autos are owned in benami names -- Police -- Other officers -- Daily finances -- Politicians of local nature Corporators etc. etc. -- -- --The Drivers are lowly paid-- in all this -- very few are driver cum owner --many owners also pay private high interest loans -- ------------ So final customer is burdened -- Many lower middle classes especially women and children are burdened -- there is no other transport -- So many a times we see overcrowding to reduce costs per person in autos -- This can; lead to dangerous situations accidents --- Now, all owners incl benami --have got together to increase rates by using Govt agencies -- earlier minimum distance was 2 kms now reduced by half a km --
