Coastal entrepreneurs demand superfast train to Bengaluru from Mangaluru

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Nov 2: The demand for superfast train from capital Bengaluru to the city, in order to strengthen the industrial sector of coastal region, was echoed by entrepreneurs of coastal region before the Global Investors’ Meet 2022 which is scheduled to be held from November 2 to 4 at Bengaluru.

As the tunnel train project is limping since many years, the entrepreneurs are demanding superfast train like Vande Bharath.

In 2021, ‘Metro Man’ Dr E Sreedharan had written a letter to Jeevan Saldanha, president of Dakshina Kannada CII in which he said that it is possible to reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mangaluru to just four hours if direct railway track is laid through Shravanabelagola.

The industrialists of coastal region opine, “Mangaluru port is the gateway of Karnataka. MRPL, SEZ, Baikampady and Yeyyadi industrial estates, large, medium and small industries are the economic power centres of state as well as the country. These industries are expecting faster transportation facility with the innovations in technology. In addition, it will develop tourism also. If superfast train is provided, industrial sector and tourism both will flourish.”

Jeevan Saldanha, chairman of CII, Dakshina Kannada said, “We have submitted an appeal for superfast train system through Shravanabelagola to Bengaluru, to chief minister Basavaraja Bommai through CII chairman of Karnataka. Our team will participate in the GIM and bring to the notice of local, central and state representatives of the need of superfast train to the coastal region as well as improvement of fundamental infrastructure. Earlier, Dr E Sreedharan had positively said that this is possible. If this becomes true, then the whole picture of coastal region will change.”

First we should get good boogies if anyone has noticed the boogies entering Mangalore from Bangalore or Mumbai are old boogies. There are never new boogies. But if anyone has traveled by Mangala express the boogies are new and clean. But any train starting from Mangalore the boogies are old and dirty as usual. Our MP is only on religion mode. If we need a superfast train between Mangalore and Bangalore it would take a decade.

This is not realizable. Till recently, State governments were always by Congress or JD (S) parties. Dakshina Kannada always supported BJP. Now the government is by BJP but the party and the government is so weak, it can’t do anything positive at all. BJP Karnataka is a messy party. with a weak leader as the CM leading it.

The already running Panchaganga Express is full and even on daily basis there are tickets in waiting list.. This proves the huge demand for train tickets in this route. Certainly new trains should be started, this time may be SVMT terminal or even from Whitefield. It will help a lot of people

Overall, there has to be a sense of urgency for the Trains -- meaning many a times in No man's land train stops -- various other issues which is a Time management issue ---- The Japanese trains although fast -- bullet train -- is highly efficient -- it is a management lesson how they make sure not even a second is wasted ----Train stops -- cleaning etc. -- we can start with not wasting minutes -- to reach Japanese levels it needs a whole mindset change ---

Even in the current track it is possible to reduce the journey time to 6.5 to 7 hours. Speed restriction is only between Subrahmanya Road and Sakleshpur. Rest of the place it a plain track. Run a double engine train to increase the speed in plain track and to avoid 30 minutes break in Sakleshpur & Kukke (currently an additional engine is attached and detached in these 2 stations which consumes 15 minutes each). Give only one stop in Hassan en-route. So easily journey time can be reduced to 7 hours. This is not possible with our MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. If Pratap Simha or Prahlad Joshi was our MP, they would have done it.
