Mangaluru, Sep 25: The Mangalore Runners Club in collaboration with Zeus Fitness Club and Decathlon organized a five-km promo run for people to get a feel of running and start their preparation for the upcoming Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022 which will be held on November 6 at Mangala Stadium.
The event began with a warm up session led by Zeus Fitness Club. A crew of 10 bikers flagged off the run at 6:30 AM in a magnificent manor. Around 300 enthusiastic runners across all age groups participated in the run which commenced at Zeus Fitness Club, Kadri and proceeded towards Mallikatta-Bunts Hostel-PVS and turning back towards Bunts Hostel - Jyothi - Balmatta - Bendoor well and ending at the start point.
All participants were awarded with certificates and medals by Decathlon as a part of the Decathlon Sports Utsav, a month-long sports festival. Participants were given a special discount on registration for the Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022. Zeus Fitness Club will award free Gym Membership to four lucky winners who register using this code. The event concluded with a cool down session conducted by Zeus Fitness Club, a sumptuous breakfast and many pictures of satisfied runners.
The first edition of the Mangalore Marathon titled Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022 will be held on November 6 at Mangala Stadium by the Mangalore Runners Club. The race will be in four categories: Half Marathon (21.1 kms), 10 kms, 5 kms and 2 kms Gammath (fun) run, with distances to suit every runner’s ability, whether you’re a seasoned runner or just a beginner.
Along with promoting fitness, the event will also serve as a fundraiser for the Mangaluru based Chetana Child Development Centre, which works to improve the lives of children with disabilities. The organisers have also partnered with TIP sessions, a Karnataka based NGO to ensure the event will be zero waste thereby fulfilling the environmental responsibility. “We hope to put Mangalore on the world marathon map by organizing the Mangalore Marathon year on year in a professional way. This would help to popularize Mangaluru around the world and attract tourists to our lovely city,” organisers said.
Running being the least expensive and most accessible sport around, Mangalore Runners Club’s mission is to create a long-term community-focused running event that encourages people of all levels to live a healthy life and improve their personal fitness by running.
