Calgary: Monthi Fest celebrated in Canada

Calgary, Sep 17: Over 125 South Asian and specially Mangalurean origin people living in Calgary celebrated the much- loved event Nativity – Monthi Fest on September 10 at St Thomas More Church, NE, Calgary, Alberta.

The main celebrant for the mas was Fr Rajesh D’Souza, OCD, assistant pastor of St Thomas More and other priest who concelebrated Mass was Fr Jerald D’Souza, OCD, main pastor of St Thomas More. Fr Jerald D’Souza and Fr Rajesh D’Souza for being supportive, and encouraging to grow tradition. Besides, both Carmelite priests had initiated the three day novena in honour of Mother Mary.

Fr Jerald D'Souza preached on how life is important and Mother Mary set an example to others. He detailed how community involvement is important and appreciated Calgary Konkan community worked together to celebrate three important events together – Mother Mary’s birthday, Family feast and feast of the first harvest.

Mangalurean community members coordinated liturgy and choir with all choir members and the lovely kids who participated.

The playwright, Our Lady of Cape which was performed by Calgary Konkan children.

Mother Mary was adorned and set up the stage for the evening cultural events. It was great successful even with a traditional Novem Jevon.
