Puttur: Thieves barge into footwear shop, steal Rs 14,84,500 cash, CCTV DVR

Puttur, Sep 16: A gang of thieves broke into a footwear shop  and decamped with Rs 14,74,500 cash and a CCTV DVR worth from a footwear shop in Kasaba village of Puttur.

The theft was reported at 'Prakash Footwear Co'  located near Puttur bus stand. The shop belongs to Mohammed Shamir.

He also owns a shop that sells second-hand cars.

  

In the complaint, it is said that the owner had kept Rs 8 lac from the car business and Rs 7,00,000 taken from his friend Siddik in a wooden box behind the cash drawer of his footwear shop.

Tajuddin who looked after the shop had informed the complainant about the theft at around 9 AM in the morning.

When the complainant arrived at the shop in Puttur, he noticed that someone had indeed entered the shop by removing roof tiles and breaking the ceiling. They have also stolen Rs 24,500 from the shop cash drawer and Rs  14,50,000 from a wooden box from behind the cash drawer of the shop. They have stolen CCTV Digital Video Recorder (DVR) worth Rs 10, 000 from the shop. The theft might have taken place between 9 PM of September 15 to 9 AM on September 16, police said.

Puttur Town Police have registered a case under 454, 457, and 380 of IPC.

    It clearly shows insider job, the past employee who knew where cash is kept even when shop is closed has planned it to perfection & to destroy evidence he carried the DVR too. He will be caught soon & the cash might get reduced or disappear if he had splurged it on some irrecoverable pleasure trips.

    Am sure who knew where money is kept and zoomed too.To gm Hegde why this name was kept to this shop matters little.Here theft has taken place.Owners must keep a second camera somewhere without employess notice.

    Ritaji, Keeping such a huge amount in a shop after shop hours itself is nonsense in an remote area of mangalore. It’s not Frankfurt or Munich where you can even move with lacs of money in hand at midnight.as you rightly said, it’s some one known has stolen ....

    I know this Prakash Footwear. I remember my Dad buying footwear here for me. That was years back may be 30 + years back. Owner bought this shop from others back then. Hope that answers your question. Jai Hind..
