Mangaluru, Sep 15: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) coordinator Prathibha Kulai on Wednesday, September 15 assured those working in the Surathkal toll plaza of employment opportunities after its closure.

Speaking to media persons here, Prathibha Kulai said, "A toll plaza has been run illegally in Surathkal for the past several years. After severe protests by the Surathkal Toll Gate Virodhi Samiti, assurance has been given on the closure of this toll gate. Though union minister Nithin Gadkari and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel have given assurance on closure of the toll gate, it was not done. Surathkal Toll Gate Virodhi Samiti along with like-minded organisations and the general public held a protest demanding the closure of the toll plaza," she said.

She also expressed the hope of closure of this toll plaza in the coming days. Therefore, many youths working in this toll plaza will be unemployed when it gets closed. She said that she had contacted several private companies and firms to provide employment opportunities for these youths.
