Mangaluru: Man accused of serial thefts arrested, valuables worth Rs 13.53 lac seized

Mangaluru, Jan 11: The Surathkal police, on Sunday January 10, arrested one person, on the allegation of having been involved with several thefts.

The arrested has been identified as Rajesh Naik, a resident of Toll Naka at Dharwad. Naik has been accused of stealing valuables from the Daivasthana attached to the house of Ravi Shetty from Nandanajalu in Kulai village, Ramanjaneya Bhajana Mandir in Goddekopla in Iddya village, Jarumana Daivasthana and the Daivasthana belonging to the family of Satish Suvarna from Chitrapur village.

The arrested accused is currently residing at Indrali, Durganagar, Manchi here. He was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.

Valuables worth Rs 13.53 lac including 47 grams of gold ornaments, and 16 kg silver articles were seized. The operation was led by police sub-inspector Chandrashekharaiah under the instructions of Surathkal police inspector Chandrappa K.
