Mangaluru, Oct 8: Former MLC Ivan D'Souza demanded Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or Lokayukta probe into the alleged irregularities in the Smart City Project.

Addressing media here on Thursday, October 8, he said, "The estimated cost of Smart City Project has increased three times more than the previous estimated cost of the project. The public is suspicious over the estimated cost and DPR of Smart City Project undertaken. There are a lot of irregularities in the Smart City Project which has to be probed by either ACB or Lokayukta."

Ivan alleged that even in two years after the project commenced, none of the projects are completed and demanded a public audit. "It has been two years since the Smart City Project was undertaken. None of the projects have been completed so far. There has to be discussion over the projects completed and cost spent so far on the project. There has to be public accountability," Ivan said.

He further said, "The development of Mahakaali Padpu worth Rs 40 crore is still pending which has not been undertaken yet and even the land acquisition is yet to be done."

He also questioned MLA Vedavyasa Kamath on why it was not possible to handover houses to 916 families under Ashraya scheme. Two years ago, the then Congress government had allotted houses for 916 beneficiaries under Ashraya scheme and even after two years the houses have not been handed over to the beneficiaries.

"It shows that they do not have any concern towards the poor in providing houses. Even an order was issued to revise the entire list of beneficiaries which indicates some political angle in providing houses," the former MLC said.

MCC opposition leader Abdul Rauf, corporator Shashidhar Hegde and others were present.

Under the plea of Smart City our roads are dug up everywhere and the general public are suffering and also inconvenienced due to many c incomplete works. The digging works should have been carried out in a phased manner. But many of our roads are blocked for traffic movements. May be it would take 50 to 100 years to complete the various works connected to Smart City because of labour shortage.

Dear Ivan, during congress era lot of roads encroached and house/buildings were built by support from your ancestors team. Now it is very tough to widen road. It takes lot of time to develop by mutual consent. It is not like one day job as you did to provide Riksha stand during your period.

The country is painfully aware of how central agencies are being misused to target Opposition leaders and parties. "A channel that exposed Yediyurappa’s son for receiving kickbacks, was banned. Protection is being given out to all those who support the BJP government and those who speak out against them are being penalised.

A Tweet from Subramaniam Swamy on 22nd September was viral on the social media. “ When I Tweeted two years ago that Adani was a “Trapeze Artist” in Finance, There were Howls from BJP’s Fake ID Specialists. Today The Indian Express has published a US Investigation in Seychelles that Adani has been engaged in Suspicious “ Financial Laundering” and Sanitisation.

Will the centre show the same alarcity in ordering probe by the central agencies(ED/CBI/NIA/NAU/IB/Customs) against Adani as swiftly as they have done with Shiv Kumar Ji in Karnataka or in Kerala or Maharashtra.

It will be nice if all these central Agencies are deputed to UP so that they can investigate all the Rape cases occuring with Impunity and put an end to this menace in UP instead of indulging in a witch hunt against opposition leaders.

High time to wind up the CBI as it has lost all the Trust and confidence of the people and having lost all its relevance and credibility.

A thorough investigation is required to find a potential , non controversial, dynamic, new young face for Congress for the upcoming elections to ensure that BJP is not handed a 'walk over'.

Boss,, the purpose is to contest and not to win. He knows the results if he contests .But by hook or Crook they want to contest in elections. Least bothered about results. The eye is on the party funds that pours for the candidates. Thats why you see them very active trying to hog the limelight.

Okay, So ? Bashing and mocking online wont help, You have to get on the streets demand and protest,
like it was done for CAA. Some remained mute spectators and then came online the next day and became internet tigers for the purpose. It does not work this way.

I am compelled to agree with Mr, A.M, Belma's views. It does hurt when the ones from whom you expect support end up remaining mute and silent spectators. Coming online with a fake id and bashing , lashing and poking fun at every news items does not require any courage. It can be done by anyone. We know the pain of participating in the real protests and also being let down.
