Panaji, Oct 4: Travel Company TUI UK has cancelled its package programmes to Goa till December 18, 2020, amid travel restrictions due to the pandemic.

TUI UK group purchasing director told “As a result of the UK government’s travel restrictions to India we have been forced to suspend our programme to your destination. Even now, after weeks and months, sadly, there is still no sign of a relaxation which would allow TUI UK to resume operations to Goa in the immediate future.”

After Russia, the UK is Goa’s biggest charter market. Goa receives 2 to 2.5 lac charter tourists every season.

Goa CM Sawant had written to Union home minister Amit Shah seeking intervention for the resumption of charter flights to Goa with the suitable standard operating procedure (SOP). Goa government hasn’t received any reply from the Union home ministry.
