Panaji, Oct 4: North Goa District Collector Ankit Yadav digitally released three posters carrying the message “Don’t Drink and Drive” as part of the 15th State Road Safety Week, observed from September 28 to October 4.

The campaign was launched with the assistance of Goa Medical College and Hospital under the guidance of Dr Rajesh Patil, MS, following a decision taken at the meeting of the North Goa District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) held on September 11.

The initiative is the first joint awareness campaign involving members and partners of the DRSC, with the aim of reaching a wider audience, including local residents and tourists travelling to different parts of Goa, particularly during weekends.

“The posters are intended to spread the road-safety message among local residents as well as tourists travelling to different parts of Goa, particularly during weekends,” Yadav said.

The campaign also seeks to encourage joint activities among DRSC members and partners to make road-safety awareness efforts more effective and reach a larger section of the public.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Salcete Taluka, in association with the Traffic Cell, Margao, observed Road Safety Week on Saturday.

An awareness session on road safety was organised for students of Kare College of Law, Margao. This was followed by a field activity during which the SDM and Traffic Cell officials interacted with commuters and other road users.

The officials sensitised the public about traffic rules, responsible road behaviour and safe practices while using the roads.
