MS Dhoni retires from all forms of international cricket

New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS): Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Saturday announced his retirement. Dhoni posted a video montage with pictures at different points of his career on his Instagram account.

"Thanks. Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired (sic.)," Dhoni wrote in the caption.

The 2011 World Cup-winning captain is yet to give details of the development as to whether he is retiring from the game entirely or if he is only bowing out from international cricket.

Dhoni is currently part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training camp at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai and is expected to lead the team in the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League which is set to start on September 19 in the UAE.

His future with the Indian team has been a subject of intense speculation. His last appearance in the Blue jersey came in their semi-final defeat to New Zealand at the 2019 World Cup in July 2019 after which he took a break from professional cricket. In this time, Rishabh Pant and later KL Rahul took his place as wicketkeeper of the Indian limited-overs side.

Soon after Dhoni announced his retirement, another well-known cricketer Suresh Raina also followed suit. He said on his Instagram handle, ""I choose to join you in this journey. Thank you India."

A wonderful captain and a gentleman. You will be missed in cricket. In the minds of Indians you are no less than a super hero. Coming from ordinary family, you took wonderful and risky decisions. You were humble, so God blessed you.
You are an example for our future sportsmen. Stay blessed.
If possible, in future, take a seat in BCCI and save it from our politicians.

It's not a big deal, he should have got himself retired or cricket board of India should have given him stop long back as sports, games, etc based on physical fitness. Cricket board of India goes on players popularity as if he is in films industry, where he can act as grand father etc... so its not a big deal. I was also a sports man during my time...

Playing cards is definitely not Sports. Ok? Nor playing with spirits...

No doubt MSD is one of the greats but it is time we focus on the system more than the individual for greatness. That way we can have lots of greats rather than having to wait 1000 years. Perhaps all of us can get shots at doing great things if not actual greatness.

The quickest thing to get noticed here is to write a retort under my comment. IT IS OK. However, there must be some sense in the write up.
Otherwise the surroundings around Udupi and Kallianpur is scenic n fresh.
One can always go for a walk and refresh.
