Bantwal, May 11: Karopadi in the taluk is quite far from Udupi. But a corona warriors’ team from Udupi rushed to help an Assam migrant labourer’s family at Karopadi.

This communication was possible due to the audio clip facility that was set by the corona warriors’ team of Udupi. Due to this app, the needs of the migrant family from Assam was fulfilled. This team works under the guidance of Udupi information department, labour department and Red Cross society.

As Karopadi lies on the border of Kerala state, heavy security is deployed at the place since two months. As all the roads from Kerala that lead to Karnataka are closed, families living in rural areas are facing issues. Out of this, one particular family of Assam was facing food issues since some days.

In the app that is developed by Udupi corona warriors’ team there is a message of be safe and stay at home in 23 different languages, which includes even Assamese. So the Assamese family got in touch with team.

Sahana, Suketh Shetty and Deepak Shenoy of Udupi corona warriors’ team displayed exemplary humanity along with courage in order to reach the Assamese family in distress. Punit Raj Kottari of Mangaluru, Lohith Panolibailu, Chandrahasa Kanyana and Gururaj Bantwal also gave company to the team.

It was difficult for the Udupi team to reach Pambathaje. They had to walk two km on foot as the road was completely dug. The team travelled one way distance of 110 km from Udupi to Pambathaje of Karopadi and handed over essentials to the Assamese family free of cost.

The team from Udupi is always ready to respond to any crisis. Till now it has rescued more than 200 people. This team is working under the guidance of Manivannan, secretary of labour department.
