Udupi: ‘Those who oppose quarantine centres will be booked’ - DC Jagadeesha

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, May 8: Quarantine centres have to be opened for people arriving from other states and districts into the district. Anyone who objects the opening of such centres will be booked under section 188, 269 and 270. This information was given by the deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha.

All arrangements have been done at private schools and colleges to accommodate those who come from outstation places into the district. He was speaking at a meeting in his office at Rajatadri on Friday, May 8.

The concerned institutions have to vacate their facilities and hand over the same to district administration once they are notified. Once the quarantine period is over the said facilities will be completely sanitized and handed over back to the management of the institution.

Around 6,000 people are waiting to enter the district in the first phase. First, they will be checked for health at the border entry point of the district and escorted in a police vehicle to the quarantine centres. If an infected person is found they will be admitted to the hospital. Around 20,000 people are expected to arrive into the district. People who are willing to stay in quarantine in hotels should bear the hotel expenses.

Udupi is lauded for the facilities offered to migrant workers during the lockdown period. All district officials are working 24/7 to prevent the spread of the virus.

Nodal officer Dr Prashant Bhat said that 12 checkposts are already opened for this purpose and all personnel are trained. All tahsildars have been directed to collect details of facilities with fundamental infrastructure.

    Hi Sir,

Allow people from other states to do self quarantine at home after temperature tests It reduces the cause of getting Corona from the quarantine centers as people use the same Hall and the Toilets. Families with small kids will not able to control them for 14 or 21 days.

My point is, instead of doing this, after health check up send them to their respective homes and quarantine them.

That will reduce the risk of people getting corona from quarantine centers.

Home quarantine really works if done properly

They can use paid facility in hotels.. DC should allow Private hospitals who wants to keep people, if they have separate quarantine facility. This will be helpful for Pregnents, heart patients, diabetics etc.
