Udupi, Apr 23: Udupi district will get an official recognition as corona-free after no new coronavirus cases were reported from there for 28 days continuously. The last coronavirus case was reported from the district on March 29 and there have been no fresh cases. If the district spends another four days without any new case, it becomes corona-free.

The test report on the throat swabs of a pregnant woman from Bhatkal who is being treated at Dr TMA Pai Hospital here was not received even on Wednesday. On Wednesday, 13 samples were collected, and the only report received was negative. Test reports in case of 110 cases are yet to be received.

By way of concession, construction, irrigation, road and house constructions have been allowed in rural areas. But they cannot be conducted within the jurisdiction of local bodies. Electronics and mobile shops cannot function, and hotels can provide parcel service alone.

Professional electronic repairing, plumbing etc by visiting individual houses can be undertaken. As already said, transportation of agricultural, horticultural products are allowed. Petty shops, textiles stores etc cannot conduct business. Other than agriculture, horticulture, medicine and connected categories, no other factories can begin production.
