Catechism Day celebration held at St Joseph Vaz Church, Mudipu

Mudipu, Feb 24: The culmination of the whole year’s (2019-2020) Sunday catechism took place on Catechism Day which was organized at St JosephVaz Church, Mudipu on February 23, 2020.

The first part of the celebration began with a thanksgiving mass at 7.30 am presided over by Fr Benjamin Pinto, the parish priest along with Fr Shaun Rodrigues assistant parish priest. In his homily, Fr Benjamin Pinto appealed to everyone to make love as the goal of Catechesis. "Our Catechism should transform us as loving people," he said.

Children conducted the liturgy devotionally and the children’s choir with their melodious singing helped the congregation to pray. 



The second part of the celebration included the prize distribution ceremony. Irene Veigas secretary of Parish Pastoral Parishad distributed prizes to those who stood first and second in Bible quiz. Naveen D’Souza vice-president, PPP handed over the prizes to those children who scored well in the catechism examination. Sr Joaquina Dias, Superior Holy Family of Nazareth Convent honoured the children who attended the Sunday catechism without fail. Fr Shaun Rodrigues and Fr Benjamin Pinto expressed their gratitude in the name of the parish community to all the Catechism teachers with a token of love.

On this auspicious occasion Kiran Kutinha, YCS student shared her experience on Catechism journey of the past 12 years. From the teacher’s side Smitha D’Souza, YCS animator verbalized her feelings precisely. Fr Benjamin Pinto in his presidential address thanked the teachers for their untiring service and congratulated all the children saying "Jesus is the greatest gift you must carry always and everywhere you go." Agnes D’Souza Catechism co-coordinator welcomed the gathering, Jacinta D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Vijresha Monteiro emceed the programme.
