Mangaluru: Juniors bid adieu to 48 prospective teachers of St Aloysius BEd College

Mangaluru, Jan 22: St Aloysius BEd College, a leading institute of teacher education in the city, organized a send-off programme for 48 prospective teachers of its 12th batch on the theme 'Go Forth and Light the World’. The goodbye ceremony began with invoking God’s blessings through a prayer service led by the management and the staff members of the institute.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, the director of the college said, “When you started your 2-year BEd course it was a mystery for you, but now it has made history since you have completed the two years successfully, to be better teachers soon. Wherever you go be a spark, be an example for others, mainly to your students. Make sure your spark enlightens others. Be the bright spark and light the world by your service and dedication. Good education is the greatest gift to humankind. As education facilitates knowledge, learning, skills and values to students, it has the maximum potential to transform lives, lies in the hands of a teacher and that is the reason why a teacher’s profession is considered the best profession above all." Further in his speech, he stressed on practicing the four important Jesuit educational Values, namely, Competence, Commitment, Compassion and Conscience.



Dr Farita Viegas, principal, recalled and appreciated the positive attitude, commitment, passion and zeal of the outgoing batch throughout the two years. She also invited the students to be open to accept new challenges at their workplace.

Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, rector and the president of the programme, congratulated the outgoing students and said that they were provided with a very congenial atmosphere by the college to bloom to their fullest potential. His advice to the students was to do their best for society and to the nation by utilizing their knowledge, experiences and capacities gained in the college to the maximum by encouraging and changing the lives of students entrusted to their care. Whatever be the ambition, be happy with what opportunities come your way. Work hard with sincerity and dedication.

Dirshya (cultural secretary) and her group performed a welcome dance. Sr Jesmin Lasrado B S and group enacted a skit on the theme ‘teacher as a light’. Anisha D’Souza and group made a kaleidoscopic presentation of BEd life through dances. Ramya Lakshmi and group sung a wishing song. The principal and the director presented a class photo to the students. Shivani delivered valedictorian speech. Sr Savitha D’Souza B S rendered the vote of thanks. Meharunnisa Begum compered the programme. Jerome D’Souza, convener, organized the programme.
