Mangaluru: Car glass shattered - Rs 15 lac cash stolen at Chilimbi

Mangaluru, Dec 13: In an incident which happened on Friday December 13 at Chilimbi, Ladyhill in the city, cash amounting to Rs 15 lac kept inside a car was stolen.

It is learnt a women had come with Rs 20 lac cash to withdraw gold from South Indian Bank's Chilimbi branch. She had borrowed the amount from her relative for expenses in wedding which is scheduled to take place at her relative’s house next week.

The women and her friends proceeded to the bank with Rs 5 lac. She kept Rs 15 lac in the car.

Sources said that when they entered the bank, two men came near the car in a two-wheeler and broke open a window pane using some chemical. They took the bag which contained cash and fled from the spot. It is also learnt that one among them did not wear helmet. 

Police visited the spot and undertook investigation.

    It is a mystery! How they knew about thee money in the car. How they have come all of a sudden when the persons went inside the Bank. may be somebody has given the clue about the money that carried in the car. May be the family members only done this mischief.

    Please try to avoid nonsense comments on that lady. I too had the same situation when I parked my car at Mysore. A common man’s mind says that car is locked and safe and nothing will happen with out key. But thieves are thieves they will try all the ways to loot the money. Surprisingly my car window also trashed in the same way,Look like knife cut .
    Luckily I didn’t lose anything other than some documents and Mysore police also didn’t do anything.
    One thing is very sure here that someone known to this lady did this.
    Our Mangalore police will catch the thieves. Am sure.

    frustration mounting day by day. These events were unheard of in Ladyhill and urwa area of Namma Kudla, which is considered to be safest. that too in broad daylight.
