Udupi: Fr Mahesh D’Souza suicide case – Police question around 50 people

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Nov 28: Though speedy probe in Fr Mahesh D’Souza suicide case was assured by the police officers during the protest held at Shirva Church premises earlier this month, the FSL report is still awaited, according to investigation officer and Kaup police circle inspector Mahesh Prasad.

Speaking exclusively to Daijiworld.com, Mahesh Prasad, said, "We are investigating the case. The FSL report may come within a week. Many persons associated with late Fr Mahesh D'Souza, family members and many others have been already interrogated. Around 50 persons have been questioned so far. Fr Mahesh D'Souza's mobile phone has also been sent for forensic tests,"

It is learnt that, Sunil Cabral, Cornald Castelino and others who were in the forefront during the protest, met Basavaraj Bommai, home minister of Karnataka, recently. They have appealed to the government for a fair enquiry. Sunil Kumar, MLA Karkala and Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, president Udupi district BJP, were also part of this delegation.

Some sources claim that after this meeting with home minister, the investigation has taken further speed. But Mahesh Prasad says “There is no political pressure in relation to this case. Some people have submitted an appeal to the home minister for a fair enquiry recently. Investigation is carried out in a fair manner. Soon we may get clarity about the whole incident.”

Reacting to some report that appeared in a newspaper stating that data of Fr Mahesh D'Souza's mobile phone were erased, Mahesh Prasad said "As it is an Apple iphone It is not so easy to erase all the data from that mobile. These mobile phones have high-security systems. If anything such has happened, then it will appear in the forensic reports. The mobile phone has been sent to forensic investigation in Bengaluru and the report is soon expected,’’

As it is a high profile case, police are also not ready to reveal any names or more information at the moment. Daijiworld has learnt that, persons closely associated with late Fr Mahesh D'Souza, including some priests are being questioned by the police.

The death of Fr Mahesh was considered as suicide based on the initial post-mortem report. It is not known why the FSL report is delayed as it is almost 50 days since the incident took place. Police source say that the report cannot be expected on urgent basis.

Thankful to the persons who are in forefront of the protest and fighting for the justice.May the lord bless them. Fr. Mahesh's blessings will be there on your families.
During Jesus Christ's time all the intellectuals distanced him and hated him whereas the simple, humble,God fearing people supported him and followed him.

Let the Police do their job. Unnecessary political pressure will not help in resolving issues but only add to gossip and confusion. Don't forget that such hype was let loose in the case of SI Ganapathy who committed suicide and senior police officers and then Home Minister was being dragged into the controversy. Finally the CBI acquitted all of them. Such pressure will sully the name of innocent people. Let the law takes its course. Either the press or the people should not chalk out the course of law.

    Rudolf
Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report will establish whether the person was poisoned and then hung or he hanged himself, since the post mortem report has not shown any injury by attack.

Jesus on suicide and how to overcome it.

Ref : The Poem of the Man-God Chapter 69 Vol 1.

It is true that to kill oneself is the same as killing other people. Both our own and other people's lives are the gift of God and only God Who gives life, has the authority to take it. Who kills himself, confesses his own pride, and pride is hated by God.

He confesses his pride? I would say his despair. And what is despair but pride? Just think, Judas.

Why does one despair? Either because misfortunes persistently perturb him and he wants to overcome them by himself, but is unable to do so. Or because he is guilty and he thinks that he cannot be forgiven by God. In both cases, is not pride the basic reason?

The man who wants to do all by himself, is no longer humble enough to stretch out his hand to the Father and say to Him: “I am not able, but You are. Help me, because I hope and wait for everything from You.”

The other man who says: “God cannot forgive me” says so, because measuring God by his own standards, he knows that another person could not forgive him, if that person had been offended, as he offended God. So here again it is pride.

A humble man understands and forgives, even if he suffers for the offence received. A proud man does not forgive. He is proud also because he is not capable of lowering his head and saying: “Father, I have sinned, forgive Your poor guilty son.”

But do you not know, Judas, that the Father will forgive everything, if one asks to be forgiven with a sincere, contrite, humble, heart willing to rise again to new life?

very well drafted! committing suicide is crime and blaming on innocents is bigger crime.
When investigation is going on smoothly, why there is speculation and blame game. All must have patience for the outcome. Don't be judge and point finger at others, check those 4 fingers tells you what have you done? Its time to restore some pride and repent for what you have done in anger or provocation.

When a person commits suicide. Family members will never disclose why the person committed suicide.

Every family member wants to have their dignity and respect protected. So you do not expect that you will know the reason why a person has committed suicide.

Every human being has two sides of their life. One is public life and the other personal life. Therefore , do not ever think or expect that the family members or the church members will ever disclose the public the personal life. If it is suicide the report will be suicide and they will say it is because of his personal reasons and nobody will disclose the private life.

'Distinction between murder and suicide may be impossible by an examination of the body alone.

Detailed investigation of the scene, reconstruction of the position of the suspended body, examination of the rope, the knots, the direction of the fibres on the rope may serve to discover homicidal hanging.'
Autopsy report only can say whether the person was alive or dead at the time of hanging. The doctors can not opine whether it is suicide or murder(homicide).

Is it gone ? is is closed without any inquiry? why is it taking so long? why are the people who protested are silent? is justice being done? Looks like this case is still active and only by pressurizing the departments through higher ups the case is moving now.. I hope truth comes out soon.. Even if it suicide we wan to know the truth. Hope god enlightens our authorities to give a fair output on this case. Let the truth prevail as soon as possible May god bless

    Regards

Probably ... I beg to differ...because it's due to a lackadaisical attitude - rather, it's already past that stage, cos we should have had a "confirmed" result by now.
