Mangaluru: Dissolution of Haleangady gram panchayat ordered

Mangaluru, Nov 6: Chief executive officer of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, R Selvamani, has issued an order, dissolving Haleangady gram panchayat administration in the taluk with immediate effect. 

In his order, the chief executive officer stated that the order of dissolution has been issued as it has been found that Haleangady gram panchayat has failed to discharge its duties property, and it has been unable to provide basic amenities to the villagers. Further, it has been observed that development works in the panchayat have become sluggish, he noted.

The order states that this order has been issued under Karnataka Grama Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act section 262 (2). 

The ruling party, BJP, had passed resolution in the zilla panchayat general session to dissolve Haleangady gram panchayat administration. This decision had come across widespread protest by the Congress members.

    i do not know about haleangadi gram panchayat. But definitely sure that nothing can be worse than the pumpwell flyover business.
    Why people responsible for the inordinate delay of pumpwell flyover, nanthoor circle issues, footpath issue near big bazaar are not dissolved?
    Because MCC is a big money spinner. Everyone is happy as the street vendors are paying hafta.
    From Ladyhill circle till Mannagudda canara high school both the pavements, mainly the swimming pool side one is completely occupied by hawkers. Same is the case near the Karavali grounds.
    Why the traffic police and MCC are not taking action on this? They are just behind helmet business of two wheelers.
