Sunny Deol campaigns for BJP candidate in Haryana

Chandigarh, Oct 17 (IANS): Actor-politician Sunny Deol of the BJP on Thursday campaigned for the October 21 Assembly polls in Haryana and sought votes for his party's candidate.

Campaigning for outgoing Finance Minister Abhimanyu, who is seeking re-election from Narnaund, Deol told voters that he came here to seek their votes for his "younger brother".

"You are showering so much love on me. You should not forget to shower the love for my younger brother too," Deol said with Abhimanyu standing beside him.

Deol's also recited his unforgettable dialogue from his 1990s' hit movie 'Ghayal' - "Jab yeh dhai kilo ka haath kisi pe padta hai na, toh aadmi uthta nahi...utth jata hai" (When this hand weighing 2.5 kilos strikes someone, he doesn't get up, he goes to heaven) - in his speech.

This was the first day of Deol's campaign in the state.

At an election meeting for the BJP candidate in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi, the stronghold of his arch rival and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Union minister Birender Singh in his chaste Haryanvi style said, "Din ache katney hai to, thera harna his acha hai (If you want to live comfortably, it is best for you to face the defeat."

"This is my humble submission to my younger brother (Hooda)," he said.

Birender Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 after leading a revolt against then Congress Chief Minister Hooda.
