Mysuru: Proposing on Dasara stage - Former Bigg Boss couple in trouble

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (MS)

Mysuru, Oct 6: The proposal of Kannada rapper Chandan Shetty to Nivedita Gowda, his former fellow contestant on the Bigg Boss show, has not been received in good taste by the public of Karnataka.

Chandan proposed to Nivedita on the night of October 4 on an open stage at the Mysuru Maharaja's College grounds in front of the mammoth crowd during a programme sponsored by the state government.

According to a newspaper, the singer proposed by saying, "I thought it would be the right opportunity to take our relationship to another level. It is music that binds us."

Enraged by this act, V Somanna, minister-in-charge of Mysuru district, has asked the police to issue a show cause notice to the couple for using the public venue for their personal use.

Speaking to the reporters, V Somanna said, "It is not right to use a public platform of Dasara for personal use. I have instructed the police to issue a show cause notice to the couple. The law will take its own course. I am really taken aback by their act,"

"The stage of Yuva Dasara is a sacred and religious one. It should not be used for personal one. That too asking a girl to marry on such a sacred stage is ridiculous," said V Somanna.

In addition to the complaint by the minister, three private individuals have also filed complaints with the Lakshmipuram police station against the couple.

Chandan Shetty regretted his act and posted a video in which he said, "This was done only with the intention of entertaining my fans and keep them happy. It is my mistake that I did not inform this to the organizers." It is said that he does not want to hurt the sentiments of the people.

Though Chandan was criticized by the public, the response on social media was mixed one with some people asking to take it easy.

Is it such a huge crime to propose to ones girl on a public stage? Come on guys, grow up! Don't hang on to your outdated traditions. Let us take it in a positive spirit and wish them well. Mysore Dasara is celebration of the victory of good over evil. So, fight the evil minds within you and let love prevail.

Well, sounds weird but kids to weird things and elders must ignore with little bit of warning . We don’t need a police going after these young couples. If we keep all the religious stuff and Ego aside it is probably sweetest thing this guy might have done and a sweet surprise to pep up the crowd . To propose a girl to marry why there must be a set of rules if it is mutual. Having said that , an avoidable stupidity by Chandan which public at large must learn to forgive and forget.

I totally agree with you Shashi. We have so many serious things going on why bring police and law in this. They are young, they make mistakes learn and life goes on . Yes they are flamboyant and so they perform on stage and we are audience. Lets keep it at that. Clap or boo but no police.

Thanks that you agreed. . Somewhere we all must move ahead in life than becoming vengeant in the society . Even we all have children and sometimes kids make silly mistakes . Didn’t we do in our young age ? For every harmless mistake if one keeps feeling offended and pull a person to court then what is purpose of a gest society. Why should young ones respect elders ?

Just want to knw, what is the purpose of proposing openly ? Like he wants everybody to know about it or showoff or what? He could have done it privately if he wanted to convey his feelings. As if like a big achievement.

When Chandan Shetty is hired to perform in a govt sponsored program and when he is getting paid for it, he should be more professional and not use the stage for his personal reasons. Dussera in Mysore is a formal function watched my millions and celebrating its heritage. It is very distasteful to act like kids when it is not needed
