Mangaluru: St Agnes College conducts survey to create awareness about solid waste management

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 17: The final year BA students of St Agnes College visited Munnur village and Kuthar areas as part of a survey programme. The visit was done to conduct the survey in this locality and to spread awareness on solid waste management.

As many as 73 students were part of this activity under the guidance of Sonal Jesma D'Souza and Vinitha J Prabhu, department of Economics.

Students were divided into groups of 12 and each group visited around 10 to 12 houses. Several questions were asked regarding waste management by students and surveyed accordingly.

The people of the village responded to student’s questions quite frankly and were excited and curious to address the students. They shared their problems regarding the disposal of waste on the road in their locality because of lack of corperation trash bins and dogs to dig into them, creating a bigger mess on the streets.

Most of the people were aware about waste management of having a separate bin for dry and wet waste but only few people willingly followed the rules.
