Kasargod: Man jumps off Chandragiri bridge into river

Kasargod, Aug 17: A 45-year-old man jumped off Chandragiri Bridge, to end his life in the afternoon on Saturday, August 17.

The person identified as Ashok, is a resident of Anangoor and works as a carpenter. He reportedly stopped his scooter near the bridge and jumped into the river, said eye witnesses.

One of the onlookers informed the police. The police and fire personnel reached the spot and are conducting search operation in the river.

The police were able to ascertain the identity of the person as they found a mobile phone, purse and the registration certificate of his two-wheeler.

Kasargod MLA N A Nellikunnu and others visited the spot and spoke to the officials. The search is still in progress.

    I feel sorry for this Ashok, who jumped from Chandragiri bridge. Has it become a trend for people to jump from bridges to end their lives. As far as I know, there were already three people who jumped from bridges. I hope this person's body is found.
